Fact-Checking Policy

Fact-Checking Policy

Last updated: June 2025

Accuracy is the foundation of NEN Agency journalism. This policy describes the standards and processes we apply to verify information before publication.

1. Our Commitment

Every article is reviewed for factual accuracy. We do not publish claims we cannot verify to a reasonable standard.

2. Primary Source Requirement

Every article must identify at least one primary source: official government statements, wire service reports (APP, Reuters, AFP, AP), court judgments, named officials, academic research, or direct reporting.

3. Verification Steps

Before publication, we check: source credibility, cross-referencing, contextual accuracy, quote accuracy, headline accuracy, and recency.

4. AI-Assisted Content

AI drafts are reviewed by human editors who verify facts against source material before publication.

5. Report Errors

Email corrections@nenagency.com with article URL, specific claim, and evidence. We respond within 24 hours.
