Superstar Fawad Khan has shared insights regarding the pressure he encountered while working on his forthcoming cross-border romantic drama, Aabir Gulaal, which is scheduled for international release on Friday (tomorrow).
In discussing the film, the actor characterized it as a “palate cleanser” amidst the current trend of emotionally charged and dark cinema.
“In today’s cinema, we witness an abundance of intensity and heaviness that leaves audiences longing for a moment to breathe,” Fawad noted. He likened the film to “a comforting dish crafted from simple ingredients, where each flavor is allowed to shine distinctly.”
Fawad openly acknowledged his concerns about whether the film would reach its audience: “I was quite anxious. There was significant pressure surrounding the film’s release,” he revealed. “However, my faith in the narrative and its message motivated me to persevere.”
Aabeer Gulaal is set for a worldwide release in Pakistan, the UAE, and various other regions—but not in India, due to regulatory limitations and ongoing diplomatic tensions. This choice has led to disappointment among Indian viewers.
“We are unable to enjoy the film solely because of political issues,” one user lamented on social media. Another expressed optimism, stating, “I hope it becomes accessible online on some platform as well.”
Despite the restricted regional release, the film has already resonated with audiences through its trailers, which have been lauded for their emotional richness and aesthetic simplicity. The chemistry between Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor has also garnered attention, with many emphasizing the cross-border relevance of a narrative focused on love and human connection.
