The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and Greenstar Social Marketing Pakistan launched a pilot entrepreneurship program for 500 women beneficiaries in Punjab and Sindh on August 26, 2025, following their recent Memorandum of Understanding.

The initiative aims to empower women with skills and seed funding for sustainable businesses.

Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid told NEN,

“This pilot will transform lives by fostering financial independence.”

The program, under the Benazir Hunarmand Programme, offers training in health sector ventures, leveraging Greenstar’s community networks

Over 200 women in Lahore and Karachi have enrolled, with plans to expand to 2,000 beneficiaries by 2026

The pilot includes technical workshops and microfinance access, complementing BISP’s Nashonuma Centers for maternal health ).

Participants will receive certification and market linkages to sell health-related products.

“This is a step toward self-reliance,” said Greenstar CEO Dr. S.A. Rab.
