The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), in collaboration with Greenstar Social Marketing Pakistan, has launched a pilot program to support 500 women entrepreneurs in Punjab and Sindh. Initiated on August 26, 2025, this project strives to enhance women’s empowerment nationwide through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding.
Under the federal Benazir Hunarmand Programme, participants will acquire essential business skills and gain access to seed capital, facilitating the establishment of sustainable enterprises.
Federal Initiatives Driving Transformation
BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid explained to NEN, “This pilot will transform lives by fostering financial independence.” The federal initiative aims to guide recipients towards economic self-sufficiency.
Dr. S.A. Rab, Greenstar CEO, highlighted the partnership’s significance, stating, “This is a step toward self-reliance.” It brings together both organizations’ expertise to strengthen women’s economic empowerment.
Comprehensive Training and Support
The pilot program offers comprehensive training in health sector ventures, leveraging Greenstar’s extensive community networks in Pakistan. Participants benefit from various support mechanisms during their entrepreneurial journey.

This initiative complements BISP’s existing Nashonuma Centers, which provide maternal health services, creating a supportive environment for women participants.

More than 200 women from Lahore and Karachi have already enrolled. Federal authorities aim for further expansion to 2,000 beneficiaries by 2026. Currently, the focus is on Punjab and Sindh, with future expansion dependent on pilot results and evaluations.
