Islamabad, August 18, 2025 –

Dr. Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, CEO of Fauji Gas Company (FGP) and former Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (AJ&K), has expressed deep grief over the recent monsoon floods in Pakistan. As Chairman of the Jammu & Kashmir People’s Freedom League, he mourned the loss of lives and damage to homes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other areas.
Floods, triggered by heavy rains and cloudbursts, have killed hundreds and displaced many families.

Dr. Rehmani called the situation “dreadful” and urged immediate relief. He linked the disaster to climate change and melting glaciers, noting that vulnerable settlements along riverbanks face greater risks.

He appealed for unity, saying, “Pakistan faces trials from climate change.

We must help our people now.” He stressed the need for aid and rehabilitation by government and NGOs.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is leading rescue efforts with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Supplies like tents and medicines are reaching affected areas.

He also ordered action against illegal waterway encroachments to reduce future risks.

Global leaders, including the UN’s Antonio Guterres and Russia’s Vladimir Putin, have offered support. Celebrities like Asim Azhar and Sarfaraz Ahmed have joined calls for aid.
