Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif announced the formation of a high-level task force on August 25, 2025, to finalize the National Industrial Policy, following a key meeting in Islamabad. The task force, comprising industry leaders and government officials, aims to address industrial challenges and boost export-oriented production.

According to a Prime Minister’s Office statement, the task force, led by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, will consult stakeholders to resolve issues like energy costs and skill shortages. “We are committed to equipping industries with modern technology,” Sharif told NEN, building on discussions with ministers including Ahsan Iqbal and Muhammad Aurangzeb (web:0). The policy targets a 15% increase in industrial exports by 2027, focusing on textiles and IT sectors.
