Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan will lead the task force, aiming to tackle major industrial challenges and promote export-oriented production throughout Pakistan.

Focus Areas of the Task Force

The Prime Minister’s Office has stated that the task force will collaborate with stakeholders to address crucial industrial issues. The National Industrial Policy outlines five priority areas:

  • Reducing energy costs for manufacturers
  • Addressing skill shortages in key sectors
  • Modernizing industrial technology
  • Implementing tax reforms
  • Upgrading infrastructure

“We are committed to equipping industries with modern technology,” Sharif explained to NEN. Ministers such as Ahsan Iqbal and Muhammad Aurangzeb are involved to reach a consensus on the policy framework.

Export Growth Targets

The policy aims for a 15% increase in industrial exports by 2027, focusing particularly on the textile and IT sectors, which are essential for Pakistan’s economic growth.

This initiative reflects comprehensive feedback from national chambers of commerce. Business leaders emphasize the need for tax reforms and infrastructure improvements to support ongoing industrial growth.

Prime Minister Sharif has instructed the task force to deliver detailed recommendations within 30 days. This rapid timeline highlights the government’s commitment to swift industrial development.

“Industries are the backbone of our economy,” Sharif stated. The government seeks to create a globally competitive environment for manufacturers.
