Lahore, 1 August 2025 — In a bold move to address the city’s growing air pollution crisis, the Punjab government launched the Clean Air Campaign across major districts of Lahore today.
The campaign, spearheaded by the Environmental Protection Department, aims to significantly reduce emissions by targeting brick kilns, industrial pollution, and vehicular smoke. The initiative includes the deployment of air quality monitors, tree plantation drives, public awareness seminars, and strict enforcement of environmental laws.
According to Lahore’s Deputy Commissioner, the city has seen a consistent increase in PM2.5 levels over the past two years. “This campaign is not just a reaction, but a roadmap towards a healthier Lahore,” he said.
Environmentalists have praised the government’s decision, though some demand long-term planning and regular public engagement. With schools, universities, and local businesses taking part in awareness sessions, the campaign has already created strong community involvement.
The campaign will be monitored by weekly air quality index (AQI) reports, which will be made public for transparency.
