ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed that empowering Pakistan’s younger generation with advanced knowledge of modern technology and artificial intelligence (AI) is among the government’s foremost priorities, enabling them to compete equally with their global peers.
In a message for International Youth Day 2025, observed worldwide on August 12, the premier highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to celebrating and supporting its youth, who he described as a symbol of determination, courage, and resilience, as well as a driving force in the nation’s economic progress.
“Pakistan’s youth are bringing pride to the nation at home and abroad. They are actively contributing to diverse sectors of our economy through their skills, intelligence, and energy,” PM Shehbaz stated.
Key Government Initiatives for Youth Development
The prime minister emphasized that multiple national programs are underway to enhance education, professional capacity, and skill development among young Pakistanis:
National Artificial Intelligence Policy 2025 — enabling youth to integrate AI and emerging technologies across various industries.
Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme (PMYSDP) — training millions in market-relevant skills.
Youth Business & Agricultural Loan Schemes — financing entrepreneurship and innovation in agriculture.
Technical & IT Training — preparing youth for global job markets.
Paid Internships & Education Loans — supporting students and fresh graduates in career growth.
Youth in Social Service
The PM also praised the volunteer spirit embedded in Pakistan’s culture, noting how young people play a critical role during emergencies, crises, and natural disasters. Initiatives such as Uraan Pakistan are fostering community-level platforms for youth participation in local problem-solving.
Vision for the Future
Shehbaz Sharif called on federal and provincial governments, educators, parents, and community leaders to empower the younger generation as custodians of Pakistan’s cultural, social, and religious values, while preparing them to lead a prosperous, technology-driven future.
