Pakistan-Bangladesh agreements

Dhaka, August 25, 2025, 02:14 AM PKT – Pakistan, Bangladesh Sign Trade and Education Agreements Post-Talks

Following extensive talks between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, and Bangladesh’s leadership, both nations signed multiple agreements on August 24, 2025, to boost trade and education ties.

The agreements were finalized during Dar’s landmark visit to Dhaka, the first by a Pakistani Foreign Minister in 13 years, aimed at revitalizing bilateral relations.

The Foreign Office reported that the signed instruments include a visa abolition agreement for diplomatic passport holders and MoUs on trade, education, and strategic studies.

“These agreements mark a new era of cooperation,” Dar told APP, after meetings with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain.

The trade MoU establishes a Joint Working Group to enhance commerce, targeting a 20% increase in bilateral trade by 2027.

The education MoU focuses on scholarships for Bangladeshi students and training for civil servants, fostering youth linkages.

Both sides also discussed reviving the SAARC forum for regional cooperation.

Dar emphasized mutual respect, stating,

“Our shared heritage will drive prosperity.”
