CAIR Urges US State Department to Reinstate Fired Press Officer
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called for the reinstatement of Shahed Ghoreishi,
the US State Department press officer fired on August 21, 2025, over disputes regarding Gaza policy statements. CAIR condemned the dismissal as an attempt to silence dissent on US foreign policy.
According to CAIR, Ghoreishi’s firing followed his draft statement opposing forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza, which was rejected by department leadership.
“This unjust action reflects a pattern of punishing moral clarity,” said CAIR’s Nihad Awad, urging a review of the decision.
