Construction of the National Museum of Uzbekistan, initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev
on August 27, 2025, is progressing rapidly, with foundational work advancing under the supervision of Chinese contractor CSCEC International.
The museum, designed by Tadao Ando and Atelier Brückner, aims to showcase Uzbekistan’s 3,000-year heritage.
Culture Minister Ozodbek Nazarbekov told NEN, “This museum will elevate our cultural legacy globally.”
The 4,000-square-meter complex will house over 100,000 artifacts, with only 2,400 currently displayed in Tashkent’s 30 museums due to space constraints .
Partnerships with the Louvre and British Museum are planned for 2026 exhibitions.
The project, part of a unified architectural ensemble near the National Park, includes conference halls and playgrounds, targeting 500,000 annual visitors .
Local artisans are contributing to the design, emphasizing cultural authenticity.
“This is our heritage hub,” said a project manager.
