Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif reviewed flood damage in Sialkot’s affected areas on August 28, 2025, and announced a Rs. 500 million compensation package for victims, following his oversight of relief efforts.
The funds will support families and farmers impacted by recent flooding.
Asif told NEN, “We’re committed to swift rehabilitation for all affected.
” The package includes Rs. 50,000 per household for 5,000 families and Rs. 10,000 per acre for crop losses, with disbursements starting September 5.
Accompanied by MPAs, Asif ensured drainage operations continue in 20 villages.
The district administration reported 12 relief camps operational, providing food and medical aid to 3,000 residents.
Asif directed PDMA to expedite infrastructure repairs, targeting completion by October. “We stand with our people,” he said.
