Karachi, August 31, 2025, 01:50 PM PKT – Universities, Industry Launch Tech Alignment Initiative

Pakistan’s top universities and tech firms launched a joint initiative on August 31, 2025, to bridge academic challenges and industry needs in computer science, following discussions at a Karachi summit.

The initiative aims to update curricula and train 10,000 students annually for tech roles.

Dr. Zia Khan of NUST told NEN,

“We’re aligning education with industry demands.”

The program, backed by the IT Ministry, introduces AI, cybersecurity, and cloud computing modules at 15 universities, including Habib and LUMS, with 200 internships offered by firms like Systems Limited. Implementation begins in January 2026.

The initiative addresses skill gaps, with 70% of graduates lacking industry-ready expertise. Tech leaders urged practical training and faculty upgrades.

“This shapes our digital future,” said an industry expert.
