ISLAMABAD — Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Thursday called on all political parties to respect the sanctity of Parliament and ensure democratic institutions function without obstruction, warning that political disputes must not be allowed to weaken the legislature.
Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, Asif said leaders of major political parties, including the Pakistan Peoples Party, have a shared responsibility to protect democratic norms and keep parliamentary proceedings on track.
The minister also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Kashmir cause, reiterating the government’s position that the disputed territory remains central to the country’s foreign policy priorities.
