ISLAMABAD, August 13, 2025 — Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar announced that this year’s Independence Day celebrations would also commemorate Pakistan Armed Forces’ triumph in the Maarka-e-Haq, making it a double celebration for the nation. Speaking to media representatives, the minister said the day would be celebrated with unprecedented enthusiasm, reflecting the nation’s unity and pride in both freedom and victory. “Allah Almighty has blessed us with the gift of independence,” he remarked, adding that people of all ages are proudly waving the national flag across the country. He emphasized that Pakistanis are setting aside political differences to celebrate the occasion. “While some are talking about protests on Independence Day, the nation is focused on celebration,” he stated, noting that the festivities also serve as a clear message to India about the strength and spirit of a free and vibrant nation. Key highlights of the celebrations include: A grand fireworks display at midnight, broadcast live from various cities, including Islamabad National songs, special parades, and flag-hoisting ceremonies across the country A special Independence Day event at Shakarparian, Islamabad Tarar congratulated the nation on both Independence Day and the Maarka-e-Haq victory, calling it a historic symbol of Pakistan’s unity, resolve, and courage. In response to a question, the minister confirmed that the PML-N held a consultative meeting in Murree regarding upcoming by-elections, but Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb was absent as she was abroad, where one of her brothers is contesting from a constituency.

President Zardari Vows to Safeguard Minority Rights and Promote Religious Harmony

ISLAMABAD, August 11, 2025 — President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the welfare, protection, and equal rights of its minority communities, describing them as an integral and respected part of the nation’s social fabric.Speaking at a ceremony marking National Minorities Day at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Zardari praised the contributions of minority communities to the country’s strength and development. He underscored that their rights, freedoms, and safety are fully guaranteed under the Constitution of Pakistan, and that acts of discrimination, extremism, or violence will not be tolerated.The President highlighted several government initiatives to promote inclusion and equal opportunities, including:Reserved seats for non-Muslims in the Parliament and Provincial AssembliesA 5% quota in federal and provincial government jobs for minoritiesScholarships for minority students from primary school to higher and professional educationLeaders of various minority communities thanked President Zardari for his 2009 decision, during his first presidential tenure, to officially declare 11th August as National Minorities Day. They hailed the move as a milestone in recognising their contributions and protecting their rights.President Zardari also pledged that minority worship places under illegal occupation would be restored without delay.
