BEIJING — China has expressed support for the signing of a phase-one Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran, urging all parties to honor their commitments. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated on Thursday that the MoU holds positive significance in reducing regional tensions and supporting the momentum of a ceasefire.
In a statement, Lin emphasized the importance of continued adherence to the agreements made in the MoU by all involved parties, including the US and Iran. He highlighted China’s belief in the potential for this agreement to contribute positively towards peace and stability in the region.
The MoU represents an initial step in diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran, with Beijing advocating for further dialogue and cooperation to build upon this initial progress.
