China Urges Calm, Full Ceasefire Amid Escalating Middle East Tensions

BEIJING — China on Wednesday called for a full and lasting ceasefire in the Middle East, urging all parties to exercise restraint and pursue a political and diplomatic resolution to the worsening conflict.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks during a regular press briefing in Beijing, responding to reports of fresh US military action in the region. He said China was deeply concerned over the rapidly escalating situation.

Beijing has consistently positioned itself as a neutral party in Middle East disputes, advocating dialogue over military engagement. Wednesday’s statement follows a pattern of Chinese diplomatic interventions as regional hostilities have intensified in recent weeks.
