Ministers Report Relief Progress in Flood-Hit KP, Punjab

Islamabad, August 27, 2025, 01:17 AM PKT – Federal ministers have announced significant strides in flood relief efforts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab, following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s directive on August 17 to accelerate aid delivery to affected zones.

Relief Assistance for Flood Victims

Over 85,000 individuals in the inundated districts of Shangla, Buner, and Bahawalnagar have received aid at 156 relief camps. Supplies are consistently dispatched to mitigate the impact of persistent monsoon conditions. Federal Minister Amir Muqam, leading operations in Shangla, announced the distribution of 12,000 ration packs and 8,000 tents.

Infrastructure Restoration in KP

Ministers Sardar Yousaf and Mubarak Zeb confirmed the restoration of road networks in Mansehra and Bajaur. Restoring these routes is crucial for delivering timely relief to these remote areas.

Advancements in Power Supply

Progress is evident in resuming power supply, with 45 out of 52 energy feeders now operational. Ministerial oversight will continue until August 30 to ensure a full recovery of essential services.

NDMA’s Nationwide Emergency Deployment

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), under Prime Minister Sharif’s supervision, has dispatched 320 trucks loaded with food and medicines. Key aspects of this deployment include:

Continued Evacuations in Punjab

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab reports that 18 villages remain submerged. Authorities urge residents in vulnerable regions to evacuate due to persistent high water levels.
