He extended heartfelt condolences to the affected families and reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to provide necessary assistance during this crisis.
Iran Expresses Support
Dr. Amiri Moghadam stated, “In this moment of profound grief, our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters in Pakistan.” He reiterated Iran’s commitment to assist the nation during this challenging period.
Previously, Iran’s Interior Minister, Eskandar Momeni, conveyed condolences to Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi by phone. He emphasized, “Iran stands with the Government and people of Pakistan in this difficult time.” Minister Momeni assured that comprehensive assistance would be provided. They also discussed the upcoming visit of Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian to Pakistan, reflecting strong bilateral relations.
Monsoon Floods Crisis
Severe monsoon rains recently hit Pakistan, causing devastating flash floods and cloudbursts. The northern and northwestern regions have been severely affected by widespread destruction.
As of mid-August, the flood-related death toll has soared beyond 320, marking one of the deadliest disasters of the summer. The Buner district has particularly suffered from the disaster.
