ISLAMABAD — Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, held a high-level meeting to address concerns over the availability, pricing, and supply of fertilizer. Provincial agriculture ministers, fertilizer manufacturers, importers, and senior officials participated in the session.
Fertilizer Supply for Key Seasons
The meeting evaluated the supply of Urea and DAP fertilizers for the current Kharif season and preparations for the upcoming Rabi season. Officials confirmed that all ten fertilizer plants in the country are operational, providing over one million tonnes of Urea in the market, adequate to meet farmers’ needs with no shortages reported.
Maintaining Stable Urea Prices
Amidst rising international fertilizer prices and global market uncertainties, Pakistan has managed to maintain stable Urea prices. The minister highlighted this stability, which contrasts with trends in other countries.
Addressing Price Hikes
Rana Tanveer Hussain addressed reports of rising fertilizer prices in certain markets. He instructed companies and authorities to prevent unjustified price hikes, warning against profiteering and artificial shortages.
Industry Cooperation
Fertilizer company representatives assured the government that there has been no major increase in Urea prices. They pledged ongoing cooperation to maintain stable nationwide supplies.
