ISLAMABAD — The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an urgent severe weather alert, forecasting extreme conditions in various parts of Pakistan.
Weather Threats in Key Regions
The NDMA expects thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and flash flooding within the next 12 to 24 hours. The regions identified at significant risk include:
- Punjab
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
- Balochistan
- Gilgit-Baltistan
- Azad Kashmir
Vulnerability of Northern Mountains
Northern mountainous areas are particularly at risk from June 13 to 15. The NDMA emphasizes taking immediate precautionary actions to counter landslides and glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs).
