ISLAMABAD — Pakistan is playing a crucial role in assisting the repatriation of 30 Iranian nationals detained by United States authorities. This group comprises fishermen and crew members.
Challenges at Sea
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar shared the development on X, noting that among these nationals, eight fishermen were rescued at sea by the British vessel, MMA Valour, after their boat encountered difficulties.
US Authorities Intervention
The repatriation effort extends to another 22 Iranian crew members from the vessel Lenore/Davina, which was intercepted by US authorities.
Karachi As a Transit Point
As outlined by Dar, both groups will transit through Karachi in the upcoming days, marking a key step in the repatriation process.
Commitment to International Cooperation
Pakistan is actively collaborating with authorities from Iran, the US, and the UK to facilitate the safe return of these Iranian nationals. Dar highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to humanitarian cooperation and its readiness to extend essential assistance to support Iranian counterparts.
