Pakistan Urges Immediate Ceasefire as Ukraine War Reaches Deadliest Point

UNITED NATIONS — Pakistan has called on all parties to the Russia-Ukraine conflict to agree to an immediate and complete cessation of hostilities. The country warned that the war has reached its deadliest point in four years.

Diplomatic Appeal at United Nations

Addressing the United Nations, Pakistan’s representative urged that a halt to fighting was essential. The ceasefire would create the diplomatic space needed to bring the conflict to an early end.

“The recent escalation and the continuing vicious cycle of strikes and…” the Pakistani delegate said. The statement underscored Islamabad’s concern over the deteriorating security situation and its impact on global stability.

Pakistan’s Stance on Russia-Ukraine War

Pakistan has consistently advocated for dialogue and a negotiated settlement to the Ukraine conflict. This position has been maintained since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.

The country has aligned itself with international calls for peace. However, Pakistan has abstained on several UN resolutions directly condemning Moscow.
