Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar Arrives in New York for Key UN Engagements

New York: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar arrived in New York on Tuesday for a three-day official visit.


During his stay from May 26 to 28, Senator Dar will participate in a high-level United Nations Security Council (UNSC) open debate focused on “Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the UN-centered International System.” The session is being held under China’s current presidency of the Security Council.


In addition to the UNSC debate, the Deputy Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings with several counterparts and senior United Nations officials.
Upon arrival, Senator Dar was received by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, and Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Aamer Ahmad Atozai.
