ISLAMABAD, August 16, 2025 — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led an important meeting focused on transforming the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre. The plan aims to elevate the facility to a world-class tertiary care hospital that meets international standards.
International Design Partnership With China
The Chinese company Hongkong-AOHUA, renowned for designing over 1,000 hospitals globally, presented their concept to the federal government. This signifies the robust Pakistan-China partnership in healthcare innovation.
Provided pro bono, the design showcases the generosity of the Chinese company. Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude, noting that this gift will be valued by the government and future patients.
Sustainable and Environmentally Conscious Design
The Prime Minister highlighted the significance of sustainability in the Jinnah Medical Complex’s design. Green initiatives to minimize environmental impact include:
- Integration of solar energy for sustainable power
- Use of abundant natural lighting to reduce energy consumption
- Water recycling systems to conserve resources
- Green spaces implemented throughout the facility
Digital Infrastructure and AI Integration
Prime Minister Sharif called for complete digitalization of the complex, emphasizing the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing healthcare services. A comprehensive technical review will ensure the facility’s preparedness for future epidemics and emergencies, with strong planning as a core feature.
Federal Government Oversight and Timeline
The Prime Minister underlined the necessity of adhering to the construction timeline. The federal government’s strategic oversight is crucial to align the project with international standards.
The meeting included federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Mukhtar Ahmad Bharath, and PKLI Chairman Dr. Saeed Akhtar. The Chinese delegation was led by Dr. Liu Zhanpei and senior officials.
