Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Holds Warm Meeting with President Xi Jinping in Beijing

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a warm and cordial meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing today. The meeting coincided with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.


Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, along with other senior ministers and officials, were also present.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked President Xi for the gracious reception and reaffirmed that the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership remains the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy. He emphasized that the iron-clad friendship between the two countries has gained even greater strategic significance amid the evolving regional and global landscape.


The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s firm support for China’s core interests, including the One China Principle, and expressed gratitude for China’s unwavering backing of Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, national development, and economic stability.
Reflecting on his successful visit to Hangzhou the previous day, the Prime Minister commended President Xi’s transformative leadership in Zhejiang Province, where he served as Governor from 2002 to 2007. He praised President Xi’s visionary leadership for elevating China to the status of a global power.
Prime Minister Shehbaz appreciated China’s support for Pakistan’s regional peace initiatives and noted that President Xi’s four-point proposal for regional peace has received wide acclaim.

He highlighted that in these turbulent times, Pakistan-China friendship and cooperation continue to serve as a vital stabilizing force in the region and beyond.


The Prime Minister lauded President Xi’s landmark global initiatives — including the Belt and Road Initiative, Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support for the vision of building a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity.
Prime Minister Shehbaz pledged to further strengthen bilateral ties and called for deeper strategic coordination. He emphasized advancing high-quality development under CPEC and aligning China’s 15th Five-Year Plan with Pakistan’s Uraan Pakistan initiative to expand cooperation in industrialization, connectivity, science and technology, agriculture, clean energy, and digital transformation.


He also noted that the selection of Pakistani astronauts for China’s space station program symbolizes the growing strength of bilateral cooperation.


President Xi Jinping described China-Pakistan relations as an “unbreakable traditional friendship” rooted in mutual trust and support. He assured that China will continue to prioritize its relationship with Pakistan in its neighborhood diplomacy, irrespective of international changes.
Both leaders agreed to build upon the historic legacy of Pakistan-China friendship and usher in a new era of strategic, practical, and forward-looking cooperation to mark the 75th anniversary.
