LAHORE — The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has reported collecting over Rs. 33.7 billion in tax revenue during May 2026. This represents a notable increase from the Rs. 27 billion collected in May 2025, as announced by officials on Thursday.
Fiscal Year Growth Highlights
PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra highlighted the fiscal year’s accomplishments at a recent revenue review meeting. Over the first eleven months of the current fiscal year, the PRA collected more than Rs. 319 billion. This surpasses the Rs. 231.7 billion collected in the same period last year.
The data shows a remarkable 38 percent growth, rising by over Rs. 87 billion year-on-year.
Key Strategic Initiatives
Sipra linked the increase in revenue to several key initiatives implemented across the Punjab region:
- Opening district-level PRA offices, supported by the Punjab Chief Minister
- Enhancing enforcement operations to improve tax compliance
- Creating a digital database to monitor and track tax defaulters
Provincial Revenue Review Meeting
Commissioners and enforcement officers from various regions in Punjab attended a provincial review meeting through video link. During the meeting, officials assessed their progress towards revenue targets and discussed strategies to ensure continued growth.
