On August 28, 2025, Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif assessed the flood damage in Sialkot, unveiling a Rs. 500 million compensation package for the affected residents. He led the relief efforts in the district’s hardest-hit areas.

Compensation Package Details

The Sialkot flood relief package is designed to provide direct support to families and farmers affected by the floods. Khawaja Asif assured NEN, “We’re committed to swift rehabilitation for all affected.”

  • Rs. 50,000 per household for 5,000 families
  • Rs. 10,000 per acre for agricultural crop losses
  • Disbursements commence on September 5, 2025

Ongoing Relief Operations

Accompanied by MPAs, Asif supervised continuous drainage operations across 20 villages in Sialkot. The district administration has confirmed that 12 relief camps are operational, offering support to displaced residents.

These camps provide essential food and medical aid to around 3,000 displaced individuals. Relief teams are actively aiding flood-affected communities throughout the district.

Infrastructure Repair Plans

The Defence Minister has instructed the PDMA to hasten infrastructure repairs in the flood-damaged areas. The target is to complete these repairs by October 2025, restoring normalcy in the affected zones.

“We stand with our people,” Asif stated during his visit to the impacted communities. The government is committed to restoring normalcy in Sialkot through comprehensive relief and rehabilitation measures.
