KARACHI — The Sindh Government on Wednesday honoured athletes who won medals at the 35th National Games 2025, distributing Rs26.3 million in cash awards at a ceremony held at the Ibrahim Joyo Auditorium, Liaquat Library.
Sindh secured 92 medals at the Games, which were held in Karachi from December 6 to 12 — the province’s first time hosting the event in 18 years. Athletes claimed 11 gold, 25 silver, and 56 bronze medals across the competition.
The ceremony, hosted by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, was attended by DIG Traffic Syed Pir Muhammad Shah, Director Sports Asad Ishaq, Sindh Olympic Association Secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput, and other senior officials. Sindh Sports Secretary Munawar Ali Mahesar served as chief guest.
Speaking at the event, Mahesar said hosting the National Games after 18 years was a major challenge, accomplished under the leadership of Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar and with the support of Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and the Chief Secretary. He added that athletes and officials from across the country praised Sindh’s hospitality, and credited Sindh Police, Rangers, and other law enforcement agencies for their role in the event’s successful organisation.
