Rawalpindi, August 21, 2025 – Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry clarified that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir did not give any interviews to journalists. This clarification addresses recent media reports concerning the army chief.
Lt Gen Chaudhry described a recent article by journalist Suhail Warraich as a form of self-promotion. The statement aims to prevent any misinformation regarding the army chief’s public statements and his official position on national matters.
Clarifying Brussels Event Claims
The DG ISPR addressed claims about a Brussels event, asserting that there was no discussion involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) or any apologies made there. The military spokesperson reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to bringing those responsible for the May 9 incident to justice.
On May 9, coordinated attacks on military installations across Pakistan occurred due to political developments.
Pakistan’s Security Challenges
Lt Gen Chaudhry emphasized Pakistan’s resilience against multiple security threats. He cited attacks that were reportedly supported by India and other hostile forces aiming to destabilize the country.

The DG ISPR encouraged Pakistani youth to recognize their strength and potential, urging them to contribute positively to national development and economic growth.
Implementing the National Action Plan
Chaudhry called for the full implementation of the National Action Plan to combat terrorism. This comprehensive plan is vital for Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts and maintaining internal security.
He also highlighted the challenges faced in deporting illegal Afghan residents involved in criminal activities, which continue to pose significant security concerns for law enforcement agencies throughout Pakistan’s provinces.
