KP Suspends Forest Guards for Alleged Illegal Logging

PESHAWAR — The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has suspended two forest guards amid allegations of illegal logging and timber smuggling in the Mahodand Valley of Kalam. The action follows media reports drawing attention to unchecked deforestation in the ecologically delicate area.

The provincial authorities have initiated a high-level inquiry to investigate the claims. The Mahodand Valley, known for its scenic beauty, faces environmental threats due to illicit tree felling, prompting urgency from environmental bodies and the local community.

The government has vowed to take stringent measures against those found responsible to protect the region’s natural resources and biodiversity.
