TIKA Delivers 15,000 Hot Meals to Flood Victims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Islamabad, 17 August 2025 — The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has launched a major flood relief operation in Pakistan. This initiative focuses on assisting families severely affected by recent floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, one of the provinces hardest hit by torrential rains that have displaced thousands.

15,000 Hot Meals for Affected Communities

TIKA is committed to distributing 15,000 hot meals throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within a week. This effort directly addresses urgent food security needs among displaced populations. Such a rapid response underscores the coordinated disaster management involving federal authorities and international partners, focusing on the most vulnerable families in the worst-hit districts.

Initial Distribution of 2,000 Meals

On Sunday, TIKA delivered 2,000 meals in two severely impacted districts:

  • 1,000 meals in Buner district
  • 1,000 meals in Swat district

Local authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa managed the distribution to ensure help reached those in need. The remaining 13,000 meals will be distributed during the week in other flood-affected areas.

Strengthening Pakistan-Turkiye Humanitarian Ties

This relief initiative showcases Turkiye’s ongoing support for Pakistan during national crises, reinforcing the bilateral cooperation in humanitarian aid. Pakistan and Turkiye share a history of collaboration in disaster response. TIKA’s quick resource allocation highlights the strong Pakistan-Turkiye partnership in tackling humanitarian emergencies.

The agency works closely with provincial authorities to guarantee the effective delivery of hot meals to the most vulnerable flood-affected families in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
