RAWALPINDI — Awareness walks, seminars, and training sessions were organized across the city on World Dengue Day to educate citizens about preventive measures against the disease. The initiatives were spearheaded by the Health Department in collaboration with local government entities and medical centers as part of a comprehensive awareness campaign.
In Union Council Dhamiyaal R-85, local residents participated in an awareness walk while informational pamphlets were distributed. Entomologist Sarfraz Ahmed briefed attendees on preventing dengue mosquito breeding, maintaining cleanliness, and eliminating stagnant water.
Similar activities were conducted in various areas of Bahria Town, including sessions at Bahria International Hospital and public parks, where citizens learned about dengue virus symptoms and preventive measures. A special session at Spring North Hospital highlighted symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and the importance of public cooperation in prevention.
Health officials utilized social media platforms to spread awareness messages to a broader audience. Experts stressed the importance of avoiding water accumulation in open containers, tires, and flower pots, especially during monsoon season.
The Bahria Town Phase 7 and 8 campaign was overseen by GM Ejaz Qureshi and Entomologist Mudassir Abbas, with Town Entomologist Muhammad Osama Izhar briefing on various activities. Participants pledged to continue collective efforts to combat dengue, emphasizing the role of public participation alongside government initiatives.
