PCB to Involve More Former Cricketers in Decision-Making

LAHORE — Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced plans to enlist additional former cricketers to enhance decision-making in cricket affairs. Speaking at the national pre-season red-ball camp in Gaddafi Stadium, Naqvi emphasized the need to expand the pool of cricketing experts.

Naqvi stated that the panel, currently comprising three former cricketers, will be expanded to six or seven members. This advisory group will handle crucial cricketing matters, including the selection of the national Test captain. He confirmed that a meeting with former Pakistan captain Younis Khan is on the agenda as part of the consultation process.

Addressing team management, Naqvi defended white-ball head coach Mike Hesson, pointing to the overall success rate since his tenure began, despite the absence of a major tournament victory. He also detailed reforms in the central contracts system, insisting that participation in domestic cricket will be mandatory for players seeking national contracts. The PCB plans to enhance match fees to support domestic cricket structures.
