RAWALPINDI — A meeting of the District Emergency Response Committee (DERC) was convened to assess dengue prevention strategies with cooperative housing societies in Rawalpindi. Chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Abdul Rehman Khan, the meeting included officials from various departments, housing society representatives, and other stakeholders.
Participants evaluated the current anti-dengue measures throughout the district, instructing societies to finalize their micro-planning, action plans, and logistical arrangements to manage potential dengue risks effectively. The additional deputy commissioner emphasized the importance of regular cleanliness and monitoring of open plots, graveyards, and vacant areas to eradicate breeding sites for dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
Coordination among all departments and housing societies was highlighted as crucial to the success of the anti-dengue campaign. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for five days later to track progress and assess targets. Additionally, societies were urged to ensure timely registration and reporting of their anti-dengue activities on the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) dashboard.
