ISLAMABAD, August 17, 2025 — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the urgent dispatch of relief supplies to flood-affected regions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other areas. This move aims to enhance Pakistan’s flood relief efforts with better federal coordination.
Federal Government Mobilization
Under the Prime Minister’s Relief Package, essential goods, including food rations, tents, and medicines, are being distributed to districts severely impacted by floods. Key federal ministers are ensuring effective coordination:
- Engineer Amir Muqam (Kashmir & GB Affairs) supervises relief efforts in Shangla and Buner
- The Federal Minister for Power oversees operations in Buner
- Sardar Yousaf (Religious Affairs) guides efforts in Mansehra
- Special Assistant Mubarak Zeb leads initiatives in Bajaur
NDMA Coordination Efforts
The NDMA Chairman works closely with disaster management teams across KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, and AJK, ensuring synchronized operations. Relief efforts involve collaboration with the Pakistan Army, district administrations, and NGOs, boosting the federal government’s rescue activities nationwide.

Minister Amir Muqam recently visited flood-hit areas to oversee aid distribution. Despite a previous delay due to a helicopter crash, he ensured accountability and swift action on site.

Heavy monsoon rains have triggered severe flash floods in KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, leading to hundreds of fatalities. Emergency protocols are active, with essential equipment like ambulances, generators, and dewatering pumps deployed.
