PESHAWAR — The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a significant increase in its budget for the procurement of medicines in public health facilities. In the fiscal year 2026–27, the allocation will rise by 20.2%, reaching PKR 14.3 billion, up from PKR 11.9 billion in the previous year, according to budget documents released on Friday.
This increase aims to enhance the availability of medical supplies across the province’s healthcare system. The adjustment underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening health services by ensuring a steady supply of necessary drugs and medical equipment.
The decision reflects a broader strategy to improve healthcare infrastructure, support public health, and address the growing medical needs of the population in the province.
