KARACHI — Shipping operations at Port Qasim continued robustly as the container vessels Albert-P and Nile Dutch Lion berthed at Container Terminals 1 and 2, respectively, on Thursday. Two additional ships carrying 101,759 tonnes of coal, Aquavita Trust and Dayra Anita, have also arrived at the port’s outer anchorage within the last 42 hours.
During the past 24 hours, a total of nine ships operated at the Port Qasim Authority (PQA) berths. Among them, the ships Nile Dutch Lion and Kouros Diamond departed on Friday morning. Meanwhile, vessels Rhine, Metro Mistral, and Meghna Venus are slated to sail by the afternoon.
The port handled a cargo volume of 197,148 tonnes, comprising 170,819 tonnes of imported goods and 26,329 tonnes of export cargo, within the last 24 hours. This included containerized cargo transported in 5,966 containers, consisting of 5,172 TEUs for imports and 1,815 TEUs for exports.
Currently, 11 ships are at the port’s outer anchorage. Vessels Obe Grande and Aquavita Trust, along with MSC Tia V, are expected to take berths at the Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Hutchison Ports Qasim, and Qasim International Container Terminal, respectively, on Friday. Additionally, two more container ships, MSC Maxico V and Safeen Power, are scheduled to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday.
