Uzbekistan’s Role Crucial for Stability and Development of Central Asia
TASHKENT, August 19, 2025 — Former President of Serbia, Boris Tadić, highlighted Uzbekistan’s crucial role in promoting peace, growth, and transformation across Central Asia. He spoke at the “Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Europe – Cooperation for Common Development” forum in Tashkent. Uzbekistan’s Impact on Central Asia’s Development Tadić noted that achieving stability and progress in the region without Uzbekistan would be difficult. This significance goes beyond politics, influencing crucial areas vital for Central Asia’s advancement. Focus areas include digitalization, economic growth, technological advancement, and education. The country’s youthful, educated population is key for regional transformation. Uzbekistan’s rich cultural legacy, exemplified by historic cities like Bukhara, Samarkand, and Khiva, enhances its influence and soft power in the region. Promoting Diplomatic Dialogue Tadić praised international platforms like the Baku Forum for promoting cooperation among regional leaders. These venues unite policymakers and thinkers to advance diplomatic discussions. He offered his expertise as an intellectual mediator to strengthen Uzbekistan’s relations with Azerbaijan. Tadić also committed to supporting engagement with broader multilateral institutions in the region. Opportunities for International Cooperation The forum outlined several priorities for regional development and integration: Building transport and logistics networks connecting Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and Europe Adopting climate resilience strategies, with a focus on water management, energy, and sustainable agriculture Encouraging digital transformation initiatives and integrating artificial intelligence Tadić expressed his commitment to practical contributions for Uzbekistan’s future growth through continuous dialogue and bilateral cooperation with regional partners.
